Overall, a unique location worth a visit. I would have given 5 stars if it hadn't been for the slightly lacking service. It's convenient, but there's a certain lacking in personal contact. Not sure if the touchless ordering will stay after Covid. He seemed a tiny bit irked that he had to do this and we were never checked on again. We then had to ask him for plates since we were splitting the tacos, as well as for napkins/flatware. It's mostly a male business crowd from the surrounding offices at that hour.BUT SERVICE SLIGHTLY LACKED The ambiance is good, the food was good, the beers were good and the touchless ordering was ideal during Covid.HOWEVER, our food was delivered before our beers, so we had to ask where they were and the waiter went to chase them down and brought them over. We were there on a Friday lunch and only waited about 10 minutes before getting a table. Just don't look beyond the trees too far or else you'll see the office buildings that surround it! I hadn't visited in probably over 20 years, but my husband had never been so we decided to visit while in the area. with Mediterranean-inspired dishes made from fresh California ingredients. The dining is unique in that you have a view of a lovely Japanese garden with a pond, bridge, shrubbery and koi. Karl Strauss Brewery Gardens Tucked away in a tech center on grounds. A session lager, the Karl Strauss Amber was an easy-sipping beer and did not have a heavy taste. The beer weighs in at a 4.5% ABV and was served to me from the tap in a classic pint glass. The Karl Strauss Amber has received six awards including a gold in 2013 at the LA International Commercial Beer Competition. Their beer menu at the Carlsbad location was vast and included their 2013 Great American Beer Fest Gold Medal Winner the Red Trolley Ale, which to date has 17 awards (and counting) and their hallmark beer, the Karl Strauss Amber which has been brewed since the beginning in 1989.įeeling a little nostalgic, I opted to go with the classic and try the Karl Strauss Amber and later asked for a small sampling of the Red Trolley Ale (just to say I tried it).
